Since 2018, Sapienza has adopted an integrated Strategic Planning model that requires its Structures to develop their own three-year planning documents consistent with the University Strategic Plan.
Integrated planning is guided centrally, defining general guidelines, methodological models, and common frameworks, and is implemented by the Departments. This approach responds to the University's organisational complexity and aims to enhance the autonomy of the Structures, promoting the development of strategic planning skills at the departmental level and fostering direct responsibility for the management and development of their own activities.
In line with this framework and following a predominantly bottom-up approach, the Strategic Plan defines CoRiS’s development guidelines for each three-year period. It articulates its strategy consistently with its organisational and disciplinary characteristics, while ensuring alignment with the general guidelines of the University Strategic Plan and Sapienza’s policies for Teaching, Research and Innovation, and Third and Fourth Mission.
Strategic planning for the 2023-2025 and 2026-2028 three-year periods takes into account the broader guidance from the University and its mission outlined in the 2022-2027 Strategic Plan. This includes contributing to innovation and social, cultural, and economic growth within the country and the international community through the valorisation of excellence in research, multidisciplinary offers within departments, dialogues with society, efforts to reduce inequalities, and a commitment to inclusion and gender equality.
The document is approved by the Department council and updated annually, following a lengthy process of discussion and shared elaboration among the Management, the delegated faculty members, and the technical-administrative staff, and based on an analysis of results achieved under the previous guidelines and the intermediate and final monitoring.
